Hiking
At the center of your tour is the Seealpsee, sometimes magically glittering, sometimes like a smooth mirror in which the spectacular Alpine panorama doubles. The Rossmad towers up before your eyes, which with a little imagination resembles a horse's head. The highest mountain in the Alpstein, the Säntis, is also clearly visible in the background.
The start and finish of your circular hike is Wasserauen at an altitude of 868 meters. At first leisurely, then a little steeper, you hike up to Seealpsee. The first 275 meters in altitude have been achieved. On the idyllic lake shore you can fortify yourself in one of the two mountain inns and enjoy the fantastic view over the lake and the mountain backdrop. Overnight stays are also possible here. Tip: You can rent a rowing boat at the Forelle Inn and explore the lake from a different perspective.
Accompanied musically by the multi-voiced ringing of cows' bells, we walk along the banks of the Seealpsee to the Rossmad, a three-kilometer-long rocky ridge. The climb takes place over the Ageteplatte up to 1,879 meters - the highest point of your mountain hike. Steep and partly exposed, your path leads upwards in a zigzag, well secured. It's worth stopping for a moment every now and then and taking in the fantastic view.
Via the Meglisalp, which in turn invites you to take a break, the path initially goes almost flat, then steeply downhill with a few exposed areas and secured by ropes back to Seealpsee. The refreshment in Seealpsee is now more than deserved. Enjoying the bank and the view again, you start the descent back to Wasserauen.

Easy T4 to get to the summit. Dangerous T2 along the cliffs at lake level, deserves to be at least T3
The start is in Wasserauen at an altitude of 868 meters, a short stopover at today's accommodation at Seealpsee “Berggasthaus Forelle” and throwing off some ballast, i.e. an overnight backpack. 🎒The first 275 meters in altitude are done. Now we go along the Seealpsee (including the cattle drive and cows jumping into the lake 😂). Now the day tour takes you to Rossmad, a horse-head-shaped mountain. Next stop: Berggasthaus Mesmer. You will often have a clear view of the Säntis on this tour. Now follows a challenging, mostly rope-secured climb to Ageteplatte at 1,879 meters - the highest point of the mountain hike. The path leads relaxed downhill to Meglisalp. After a little refreshment, the path initially goes almost flat, then steeply downhill with a few exposed areas and secured by ropes back to the lake. The refreshment in Seealpsee is now more than deserved.
