Road cycling
The 130 kilometer route is not to be underestimated. An initial flat part of almost 40 kilometers tests the resistance of those who cycle on the flat and only after crossing the Savio and Ronco rivers, near Piandispino, does the road begin to climb. Here the hairpin bends towards Pieve di Rivoschio are very panoramic and allow a splendid view of the surrounding hills and gullies.
In Pieve di Rivoschio it is possible to taste bustréng, a sweet or savory pie typical of these areas. Furthermore, towards mid-October, the chestnut festival is famous, with fruit trees abundant here. The descent takes you towards the Borello stream and near the village of the same name you will have to go up the valley floor of the Savio river, up to Mercato Saraceno. Here begins the famous (and very hard, especially in the final) ascent of the Barbotto, the most famous asperity of the Nove Colli.
The historical ascent record is 11 minutes and 20 seconds, obviously signed by Marco Pantani, but without rushing even twenty minutes is a long time. At the top, a stop at the legendary Barbotto bar is almost obligatory, while the subsequent road along the ridge up to Sogliano offers truly splendid 360° views.
From Sogliano all you have to do is return to Cesenatico to enjoy the last hours at sea.
