This route was planned by komoot.
Today was a beautiful day even if the weather was not particularly favorable. Besides the companions with whom I practice excursions, I met three friends and their children who have lived in northern Italy for a long time. Today a dip in nature and in the memories of youth. Exciting.
Sentiero Degli Dei. After many years of waiting, I was fortunate to be able to walk this path. From Bomerano to Nocelle and back. Lots of climbs and descents but what a breathtaking view. Had the company of the local goats along the way 🐐, great. We took a break at Nocelle and then returned with a slightly different route that was slightly higher than the outward route. Glad we were able to walk the Path
In Bomerano at the "ticket office" Travelmar you can buy tickets for the ferry from Positano to Amalfi and the bus trip from Amalfi back to Bomerano - very practical! The Path of the Gods is fantastic: beautiful views, moderate inclines, alternating shade and sun. The only drawback: it's really very popular and therefore overcrowded. Take the bus in Nocelle and save yourself the 1,700 step descent to Positano and the route along the road!
Beautiful? Yes A must-do: NO The effort required is high. The trail is mostly uneven. You walk a lot on rock with some exposed sections and continuous ups and downs of rock stairs.
I have been walking this path periodically for over twenty years, but the charm remains, it always surprises you, it always leaves you with something new. It will be some glimpses you have never noticed, it will be a particular brightness of the day, it will be the company of friends who you make enjoy this place so impervious and surprising. Therefore it is always worth doing it again, perhaps for those who live not too far away it is much better to enjoy the path in the November - March period, corresponding to the period of lesser tourist influx in the Sorrento - Amalfi area.
There are a few variations at different heights but the trails are always obvious, as is the direction to go in, in the absence of any heavy mist. This particular route ends with a lemon granita stall then 1800 stairs down to sea level, from whence a regular bus towards either Positano or Amalfi (5070) can be caught (takes cash). Going in the Amalfi direction, one may change at Bivio Lone for the less regular 5080 bus to get back to the walk's starting point in Bomerano. The 5080 doesn't sell tickets on board so it might be safer to ride the 5070 all the way to Amalfi and buy a ticket for the 5080 there in a shop. The SITA bus timetables can be found online. Because the bus connection is really lengthy and the 1800 steps are no fun, if I did this again I would try to do one of the loop options.
Super nice view to Capri, 5 hours leisurely hiking time to Nocelle, bus stop (tip: from here only steep downhill stairs to Positano) take small change for the bus driver, cannot change, 1 bar after 1 hour, wonderful view, with freshly squeezed juices = delicious, and in Nocelle at the entrance to the village directly on the hiking trail.
1697 steps down to Positano...for anyone who wants!
