This route spans 7.3 miles (11.7 km) and involves a significant elevation gain of 1736 feet (529 metres), making it a demanding adventure. You can expect to spend around 4 hours and 43 minutes completing this difficult journey, with the highlight being the expansive 360-degree panoramic views from viewpoints like the Belvedere del Faito.
When planning your visit, be aware that this trail is not recommended in snowy or frosty conditions unless you have proper equipment. This loop is considered a difficult hike. It involves significant elevation changes, including a steep climb on stone to Monte Molare, and traverses diverse terrain from lush forests to rocky, exposed ridges. It's best suited for experienced hikers with good physical fitness.
The trail features varied terrain, including sections through ancient beech forests, particularly between 1100 and 1300 meters. You'll also encounter rocky sections, exposed ridges, and both paved and unpaved paths. Sturdy hiking shoes are essential.
This loop offers breathtaking panoramic views. Key highlights include the View from Monte Faito, the Summit of Monte San Michele (Monte Molare), and the View from Croce della Canocchia. From various points, you can see the entire Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, the Sorrentine Peninsula, the island of Capri, and the Amalfi Coast. Don't miss the View of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples from Belvedere del Faito.

It's generally not recommended in snowy or frosty conditions without proper equipment due to the challenging terrain.
Specific trailhead parking details are not provided, but Monte Faito is a well-known area. Access points typically involve reaching the Monte Faito area within the Parco Regionale dei Monti Lattari. It's advisable to research local parking options and public transport connections to Monte Faito before your visit.
Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for hiking this trail within the Parco Regionale dei Monti Lattari. However, always check local regulations before your visit, especially for protected areas.
While the Parco Regionale dei Monti Lattari generally allows dogs, specific rules for this challenging loop are not detailed. Given the difficult terrain and potential for exposed sections, ensure your dog is fit for such a hike and always keep them on a leash to protect wildlife and for their safety.
The trail passes by natural springs, such as the legendary Acqua Santa Spring. However, it's always recommended to carry sufficient water for the entire duration of this challenging hike, as reliable facilities may be scarce.
Given the difficult rating and varied terrain, you should bring sturdy hiking shoes with good ankle support, plenty of water, snacks, appropriate layers for changing weather conditions, sun protection, and a map or GPS device. Trekking poles can also be beneficial for the steep sections.

It is not recommended for beginners or young children. Experienced hikers looking to improve their skills might find it suitable, but it requires good preparation and fitness.
THE MAJESTY OF THE BEECH TREES AND THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN OF THE LATTARI 22-08-2024 I had wanted to do this route for a long time and thanks to @Aldo Celentano and his friend Peppe, two fabulous people, I succeeded. The actual km are about 9.5. As often happens to me, I forget to stop koomot at the end of the route. The departure was from Pian del Pero where we parked, but there are also other points from which to start. Already to get to Pian del Pero by car you begin to admire the majesty of the beech trees along the road, which has been restored for the passage of cars. First stretch, from Pian del Pero to the Casa del Monaco, in the woods... that would have been enough for me 😂, But Aldo had suggested the Molare and I didn't hesitate, not even half a second to confirm his proposal. Casa del Monaco who in reality wasn't a monk. It was very interesting to learn about the history during a part of the route, We continue from the house of the Monk towards Croce della Conocchia with a variety of stretches in the sun, among the trees and along the crest. Nothing particularly challenging, among other things the paths are clearly visible and marked. There are two Crosses towards Croce della Conocchia from both points you can enjoy a spectacular view of the coastal area of Positano/Sorrento and Monte Molare. From Croce della Conocchia we then continued towards Molare where, up to the base of the highest mountain of the Lattari, the route is simple, after it starts to be a little more challenging, with steep passages on rock, nothing very difficult just go calmly and scrutinize and follow the CAI signs on the Rocks. Once we reached the top... Spectacular... the Lattari on the quarry and pass sides were tiny in comparison, too bad that on the Sorrento and Positano sides a cloud had gathered that kept us company for the entire stay, at least we were cool and the degrees were felt (Finally). Lunch and... coffee with Moka at Molare... It was exciting to see the happiness in Peppe and Aldo's eyes when I took out the Mokina and the stove to prepare a nice coffee on the spot. After lunch and a well-deserved rest, we went down from Molare towards Monte Castellone... the stretch we followed is not really marked and the path can be seen and not seen, if you go there follow the map we made. You should know that if you follow this map you will reach a point where you have to climb up some rocks (almost vertically) but with the very valid help of the ropes fixed well in the rock, a stretch of about 50 meters. Once we reached Castellone, another wonderful view and we went back down through a fabulous and silent forest dominated by the majesty of the local beech trees with the presence of numerous snow houses (another interesting story) until we reached the Località Laghetti pass from which other paths start. At this point you can continue on the asphalt road until Pian del Pero but we preferred to continue on another road in the forest that leads to the well-known MAJESTIC FAGGIO, and it really is like that. Return to the car in a few meters. CONCLUSIONS From what I am used to from my areas, the paths of this route that we did, are very well-kept and clearly visible. Vegetation that hides the paths Absent. N.B. I have combined my photos and Aldo's, therefore, since they are placed a bit haphazardly, I preferred not to accompany the description with the number of photos as I usually do. It was a fantastic experience for me and I thank the company, the guidance, the knowledge, the wisdom and the sympathy of Peppe and Aldo, that thanks to them I learned new things. See you soon for a new adventure.
