If you really want to immerse yourself in the dune landscape of the coastal region around Zandvoort, this tour is just right. It takes you almost 60 kilometers through the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park in the north of Zandvoort. On the way back you drive through the “Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen”. A large part of Amsterdam's drinking water is produced in this strictly protected region. The paths through the dunes are traffic-calmed and only accessible to cyclists and pedestrians. This means you can enjoy the idyll of this unique landscape even more.
History and cuisine are also not neglected along the way, as you pass some impressive castle ruins and country estates of the nobility. These former country estates are now often first-class restaurants and cafés. A diverse tour, ideal for experiencing the nature and history of the region.

We saddled up our bikes and headed off through the protected dune landscapes with free-roaming Highland cattle and herds of wild horses toward the coast. Everything was in bloom, and gazing across the dunes to the sea, we discovered never-before-seen 🦋 and caterpillars, as well as a wild form of pansy. The bike paths through the nature reserve are paved and easy to ride on. Our next destination is the "Keukenhof," a tulip garden of the tourist variety, because what is Holland in spring without tulips...?? What happened next was to be expected, but it initially put me in a pretty bad mood: the marketing of the tulip 🌷: cash register prices, junk food and souvenirs on every corner, and thousands of tulip lovers with children and grandchildren in the mood for a day out. 😐 At second glance, I could definitely appreciate the spacious grounds with tulips and flowers of all imaginable shapes and colors. ``` The return trip was a little less close to nature, but in any case, like everywhere else here, it was equipped with first-class bike paths. I'm deeply impressed!
Nice round to start my day off. First tailwind so in no time in Zandvoort. Due to some roadworks I forgot to turn left somewhere...straight ahead was also beautiful! On to the coffee!
