This challenging walk takes you past the crème de la crème of fruit orchards. The best time to walk this winding path along the Linge is during the blossom period in April-May. The first cherries are harvested around mid-June and the apples, pears and walnuts are picked in the autumn.

Beautiful route, exactly the right period for blossoms.
This route is not difficult. It is quite long, but there is hardly any elevation difference and large parts can even be done with a wheelchair. The route is mainly paved and asphalted. There are some parts of a klompenpad. And in Asperen it goes off the road for a bit, but for the most part it is quite boring. It is nice to see the villages (Tricht, Beesd, Rumpt, Acqoy, Asperen), but I didn't find it really inspiring.
Today we walked part of the Grote Rivierenpad because we had enjoyed it so much earlier. So now again along the orchards and the Linge in the Betuwe. From Leerdam, via Asperen the fort, Acquoy, Landgoed Marienwaardt. From there we wanted to take the ferry over the Linge, but unfortunately it won't be operational until April. So further along the Linge, the shortest way to Tricht and from there to Geldermalsen station. In 11 minutes by train back to Leerdam with a backpack beautiful memories. What a wonderful walking weather it was!
Where better than in Rivierenland on picturesque dikes, past cozy towns and the meandering Linge to celebrate spring? And what luck with the beautiful weather last Wednesday. Treacherous too, yet again a few burnt spots of skin. Concerned a walk from 2 years ago in Corona time, but for Komoot era when I still secretly didn't necessarily take the train.. Crazy how memory works. Seems like a long time ago, but when you walk in, it's like yesterday. This time we continued to Beesd. As a result, parts that I had not walked before and only for walkers. Nice and quiet on this popular route. Many walkers on their feet, especially in the beginning at Leerdam. The types left early because they mainly walked towards me back to Leerdam. All greeted with a blissful grin reserved only for hikers. Unfortunately also treated to a bird flatsch. The louder I grumbled while preening, the louder the crows seemed to roar. Note to self: cancel donation to bird protection. Towards the end in Beesd a coffee shop with tables in the evening sun, but walked through with an ice cream in hand. Another small piece of the Heerheid Mariënwaerdt before ending at Beesd station.
King's Day, better weather than predicted and a very nice route (thanks to @Wandelwoman 🥾🎒🚶🏼♀️). Quite a bit of blossom, beautiful farms and car-free.
