Smallhythe Place is an early 16th-century house and cottage gardens. The characterful timber-framed property was built when Smallhythe was a thriving shipbuilding port. Victorian actress Ellen Terry purchased the house in 1899 and her daughter, Edith Craig, transformed it into a museum after her mother’s death in 1928.
