A nice tour, except for the last 3 km. They pulled and it only went over asphalt.

Fancy idyllic country life straight out of a picture book? In the cute village of Gelselaar we start our tour on the wooden shoe path or clog pad "Boereneschpfad". Now we finally have the opportunity to enjoy the tranquil landscape of the Achterhoek to the fullest. Extensive meadows, small forest sections and secluded streams shake hands, with rustic country estates, magnificent farms and stately mansions in between. I can't decide which property I want to move into first.🤩 My absolute highlight on this clog path, however, is Erve Brooks' large adventure farm. The focal point of the huge area is a really cozy pancake restaurant, where you can linger in the most beautiful atmosphere, both inside and outside. If you don't come here, it's your own fault. The delicious poffertjes with hot cherries and whipped cream are a dream!😋 In addition to all the cozy inner courtyards, gardens, pavilions and rustic parlors, Erve Brooks has a lot more to offer. There are numerous outdoor and indoor playgrounds around the farm, where my inner child celebrated Christmas and birthday at the same time. Here you can slide, climb and jump as much as you can! Other attractions include a 2 km adventure trail, barefoot land, tropical house, museum farm, water playground and lots of farm animals such as chickens, goats, sheep and pigs. And since there really isn't anything here that doesn't exist and since Dutch country life simply makes me happy, I wouldn't have minded spending the whole day here. But then I would have missed a lot of other moments of happiness that accompanied me during the hike on the "Boereneschpfad". All the flowers along the way, the ku(h)schel session with a few cows at the pasture fence, the magnificent avenues and narrow paths. And the viewing platform integrated into a mighty, approx. 250-year-old oak tree, which totally fascinated me. If you follow the spiral staircase up, you can linger on a bench in the middle of the treetop between the branches and really let your soul dangle. A small plateau with a tree garden full of ferns and mosses was created here. This is natural art of a special kind! The beautiful view is on top of that. What a nice feel-good tour! And here is the detailed blog article about my short trip to the Achterhoek in Gelderland: https://www.couchaway.de/achterhoek-gelderland/

Beautiful route along well-renovated old farms. The route can easily be shortened or extended. Now at the beginning of September it is very nice that fruit or vegetables are for sale all along the route. Small snack for in between. Personally, this route was over too many paved roads, but it does have nice highlights. This route is not suitable with a dog.
