You have to do it ❤️🥾🥾👍🏼. First the ascent "Stairway to Heaven" and then the descent... beautiful landscapes, still impressive even in October 👍🏼. And of course, we were absolutely lucky with the weather ☀️👍🏼⛰️ what more could you want.
Today we started at the reception center of the Funchal Ecopark and then climbed the Vereda do Burro route, rated as easy, to Pico do Arieiro. It's beautiful, but not easy in my opinion. We climb through the clouds up to over 1,800 meters, sometimes over rocks, sometimes climbing steps. We left the clouds and climbed the last few meters in bright sunshine. The strenuous climb was rewarded with a stunning view. Simply amazing ⛰️
One of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done. What nature, what a spectacle.
Today was already the highest stage of the vacation, unless PR1 is still open. The climb to the summit involved more than 600 steep steps. The tour is definitely challenging! But the rewards are simply overwhelming. We were above the clouds, but the view was lacking. Yesterday, in the comments, I was talking about shedding excess weight. Mine today was my fear of heights and whether I would do the ladder to heaven. It wasn't a problem, but it was for others in the group. So, think carefully about whether to do it. Regarding PR1: According to geologists, some boulders still need to be cleared away, and then it could even reopen quite soon! Even though the tour is strenuous, you just feel free, happy, and content up there☺️⛰️💚💚
