Hermitage of Our Lady of Solitude

Highlight • Religious Site

It is the object of great devotion on the part of the beehives. It is located in a beautiful location on the road to the Valmayor swamp. Built in 1999, it is a simple construction, with beautiful windows, made of granite and slate roof. It has a viewpoint and on a rock there is a cruise that announces Mariana devotion with the stone image of Santiago Apostle.

In the esplanade there are two sources of drinking water where we can refill the drum

Valmayor Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

This reservoir is the second one that stores the most water in the entire Community of Madrid.
Although it belongs to the Guadarrama basin, it is built on the Aulencia River (which is the main tributary of the Guadarrama).
It was decided to build in the mid-sixties due to Madrid's water needs following its demographic growth. Although at first it seemed more logical to build it on the Guadarrama River, it was finally decided to do it on the Aulencia, for several reasons, among which the practical absence of population centers in the area and the granite (and impermeable) bottom where it was located stood out. .

From this viewpoint, also known as the Roca viewpoint, you can enjoy splendid views of the Valmayor reservoir, the Guadarrama mountain range and also El Escorial. A place of great tranquility ideal for making a short stop along the way.
