This route was planned by komoot.
Very quiet tour, unfortunately a lot of asphalt. Two viewpoints with a view of the cliffs can be visited along the way.
February 2024: There was an apparently very large forest fire in autumn 2023 that also spread to the towns. The forest region is full of charred trees, the Levada Velha is dried out and not maintained, many houses are broken and abandoned. The tour was ok, the views were nice, but my overall impression was clouded by it. I would wait until the area has recovered before doing this hike. At the end you should definitely go to Farol - great spot, definitely great for the sunset. But I wouldn't walk until then because it's along the boring road.
A very beautiful, easy hike with a steep climb to the levada. The path then continues along the levadas, with a few descents and ascents back to the starting point. A truly worthwhile hike.
Very nice tour with super deep views. CAUTION! Definitely don't turn right from the last viewpoint/waterfall on the way back, but up the road again and then back to Pont do Pargo! Our detour turned out to be very steep with unsecured cliff faces.
The tour combines the Levada Nova with three great viewpoints on the coast. The detour to the Garganta Funda waterfall is worth it, there is more than just a view of the coast. We decided to start the tour with the Levada, so that at the end those who are "lame with feet" have the opportunity to wait at the last mirador at the church and let the driver pick them up.
Varied hike along the Levada and back along coastal paths. At the beginning, it goes through the burnt eucalyptus forest, which is now a fern forest, but in which the eucalyptus trees are already sprouting again :). There are always beautiful views of the sea along the Levada. From the junction of the Levada, it goes very steeply down to the Capela Nossa Senhora de Boa Morte. The short detour to the Miradouro da Boa Morte is definitely worth it. From the Capela, a red sand path leads to the Miradouro Pico Vermelho with a view as far as the Farol/lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo. The road continues downhill and uphill past individual farms with tethered cows, diverse vegetation and many lizards back to the starting point. We skipped the path to the Miradouro da Garganta Funda because it was a construction site (mid-May 2024).
Beautiful 4-hour walk with beautiful and varied landscapes.
