You need a lot of time to explore the many sights, the interesting districts, streets, houses and squares. We saw the sights that were most important to us and were impressed by the lively city.
All in all, a great city! Lots to see and even more to eat 😁 the worst are the sweet things, I'm just saying Natas🙈 It's even nicer to sit outside in FEBRUARY 😎 Little tip! Watch where you put your feet! Some of the plasters are really bad, my wife got it twice and sprained her ligaments. But with Voltaren and a support bandage it's no problem 🙈 I think we'll be back 🇵🇹🚃
A very nice walk along the water, with three beautiful sights. It's 20km, but it's flat, with a few restaurants and food trucks, and you can return by metro or tram.
A week in Portugal, starting in Lisbon: Spacious squares welcome us here – so much history. The houses are decorated with typical Portuguese tiles – a true feast for the eyes, and what variety! After visiting the fortress (audio guide via QR code at the entrance, please bring headphones, tickets only available online via code) and enjoying a fantastic view of the city from the top, we stroll down through quaint alleyways to the Tagus River. The long promenade offers plenty of places to rest. The piña colada served in a pineapple is amazing, especially for many of us tourists 😉. We finally reach the Monument to the Discoveries – a very special atmosphere here with street musicians, and later at the Belém Tower: people are dancing, and the day is slowly drawing to a close. We enjoy wine with a view. Many people only arrive at the river now to bid farewell to the day; by sunset, we are one big group. Even now in November, we got sunburned 🙈. The metro is a great way to get from the city down to the river. Unfortunately, the Azujeo Museum was closed; I was really looking forward to visiting it. Have fun here! 🙋🏼♀️
Belém is a pleasant area on the Tagus River, known for its fish restaurants and houses decorated with colorful tiles. On the shady green lawns you will find historical monuments that recall Portugal's seafaring past, such as the 16th-century Torre de Belém and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos monument in the shape of a ship with billowing sails. Near the nearby Gothic Jeronymite Monastery you will find the popular pastry shop Pastéis de Belém, famous for its custard tarts.
The Hieronymus Monastery, World Heritage Site, is a real highlight. Tip: just buy the tickets with your smartphone, saves a long checkout line. We did not visit the Torre Belem. Probably due to the Sunday it was too crowded for us in the market hall, so back to the old town and followed the rest of the 2nd half on the phone. Afterwards the wine tasted particularly good 😋 😎⚽️🙋🏻 ♀️ PS: Route incl. Taxi, four people just under 10 € from Rossio to Belem
Start Campo de Ourique with the old tram 28 to Portas Sol. Follow the tram line to the cathedral and then over the Praca do Comercio, always along the water. You can also take all the stops on the way to the tower and simply take the bus or train back. If you want to walk back, you should definitely go back to the water after the LX Factory with its alternative shops and bars/restaurants. I had missed that, it wasn't particularly nice along the street and you can't get back to the bank because of the tracks.
