Nice round trip, with a few meters of elevation. A basic level of fitness and no fear of heights are an advantage. You should start at the signposted parking lot to the right above Calderas (called Matriz). On the trip you have to cover a few hundred meters on the country road. It's not that great, but it's doable.
Beautiful tour through the lush flora along the Ribeira Grande. Impressive waterfall and everywhere steaming hot springs from the earth.
This round took us past hot, steaming holes in the ground. Some of them were right on the hiking trail, in an underpass or right on the side of the road. The “Salto do Cabrito” waterfall again offered a great view and had a small lagoon below where you could swim. 🤩 After the waterfall, the path that led through a canyon above a water pipe from the old hydroelectric power plant was very exciting. The stairs alone were a lot of fun. 😊 The landscape, the forest, the greenery and the nature were simply fantastic again! 🥰 The video of the tour is available here: https://youtu.be/fgEXaCHZ4TI
Escaping the storm deep inside the valley paid off. Great waterfall and stunning views. The Azores are so wonderful for hiking. Trails are perfectly signposted and well taken care of (which is important due to the constant wind/storm and rain resulting in landslides and fallen trees).
Beautiful tour through a gorge to the waterfall with a small lake. Don't forget your bathing suit. You should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights. Tour starts and ends in Caldereas. Parking lots available . Finally, a little tip Take thermal baths in Caldereas with you, 2 pools, 3 € entry.
A wonderful hike through beautiful nature – including a gorge, waterfall, and suspension bridge. 🏞️ Afterwards, a visit to the small, nostalgic thermal baths from 1811. Relax in the 39°C warm water👙🩳 , Space for only 10 visitors, wonderful...
