This route was planned by komoot.
A fantastic tour today and finally with nice weather, so that we could enjoy the distant view. Due to the rain of the last few days, it was a bit muddy and slippery in places, but doable if you opened your eyes.
A beautiful tour without regular traffic. Spectacular views. Simply fantastic. Since there were four of us and two cars, we were able to park one at each of the starting and ending points, giving us plenty of flexibility. The weather was fantastic despite the strong wind.
At the end of the tour there is a taxi rank to get back to the parking lot/car!
Only 4 stars because there are always quads on the coastal route
We drive back to Norte Pequeno and start from there to the fajas on the cliffs. The fajas are small, flat pieces of land in front of the cliffs that have formed over thousands of years. There are probably 46 on Sao Jorge and without them the island would probably never have been populated. They are characterized by their microclimate, everything just grows here. However, they are often difficult to access. So it goes 700 meters down in serpentines, past a very chic toilet block. Almost at the bottom we pass a perfect resting place. Wood for the grill is ready, a few things have been grown in the garden and everything is very well looked after. Each Faja consists of only a few houses, some of which are and are being prepared for holidaymakers. Then there is a path uphill for 800 meters. But we can do it well with a break. Fortunately it is only 20 degrees, but we still sweat. The way back to the car is 9 km along a small asphalt road, 5 of which we are given by a dairy farmer
