This route was planned by komoot.
Our schedule coincided with another hike, and it immediately turned into an adventure. Except for the starting point—which we reached by car via a gravel road—we didn't encounter a single village or hamlet. After 14 kilometers, my phone died, and... I didn't have a power bank 🤔. Marina had hers, but we had no network to connect to Komoot.... We did have a written guide from www.originelewandelingen.be, but we knew it was difficult to find our way without a trail. And we were in that immense forest... 🙈. At one point, I thought we were in the wrong place, so we retraced our steps. Luckily, we bumped into some local hikers, and the woman knew the general direction of the Baraque du Coq. So we followed the main forest road uphill. And as luck would have it, we ended up right at the Baraque du Coq, where we also reconnected. A kilometer later, we were back at the car. It turned out we were on the right track after all, but we'd taken a small shortcut to the Baraque du Coq. All's well that ends well, because we could just as easily have been wandering around the immense Nismes forest.
