Please note that part of the walk when descending is no longer accessible. Private property with bushes and thorns.
Attention: If you want to hike the tour, you should definitely reschedule the first 2.5 kilometers! The path, if there is one, partly leads over private property (which we only noticed later) and is almost completely overgrown with thorn bushes!
Today we went a little inland, to Monchique and from there up to the highest mountain in the Algarve, the Fóia. We went through cork oak and eucalyptus forests past an old monastery ruin (great to look at and an old man actually lives in the ruins 🫣 and earns a little money, but very nice 😊). Today's 33°C in the shade was really tough for the climb 😅. When we got to the top, a nice place with a food truck awaited us. Very welcome 🥰. Unfortunately it was very hazy today, otherwise you can see all the way to the sea from here. After the descent we headed back towards Carvoeiro where we treated ourselves to a big burger, well deserved of course 😃, and sat down briefly on the beach 🥰
Was a super cool tour on the highest. mountain of the Algarve. On the way past cork oak and eucalyptus trees. As we got higher, it became increasingly foggy until we could only see a maximum of 1 meter. At the top was a smaller souvenir shop. Then it went back down in the fog. Great last day.
