Beautiful and very varied tour with great views.
The viewpoints on the coast are nicely laid out with footbridges, the coastline with the rocky cliffs and the long sandy beaches at the beginning and end is probably unique. Only the gravel road is barren, although there was hardly any traffic.
One of our favourite hikes ever! Once on the beach the path runs along a stony sand bar on the far side of a small lake. My advice is just walk across the beach to the boardwalk steps - much easier.
@Andreas_Serenity4u Taking photos with the new camera is really fun, but I keep stumbling over all the settings. A "real" camera doesn't do anything for you, and suddenly you have to pay attention to everything: aperture, ISO, shutter speed, focus… and if one thing isn't right, the whole picture looks strange. Sometimes it's too dark, sometimes too bright, or I can't get the background sharpness or blur right. In the end, these few photos are the remnants of about 400 attempts today 🙈. With all the sea spray and the diffused light, it was really tricky to get anything set up properly today.
Today we went to the west coast, to Carrapateira. We started at the car park of the "Praia do Amado" beach, through the hinterland into the town. From there through the dunes to the "Praia da Bordeira" beach, a very extensive beach that stretches far inland. A beach mainly for surfers because of the waves. Then along the rocky coast to the "Praia do Amado" beach. Unfortunately, the path was also open to cars, which regularly covered you in dust. There were several viewing platforms on the rocky coast along the way. People regularly left these to go to the edge of the cliffs. One particularly crazy thing was a cyclist who rode a little way down a cliff. Luckily he was wearing a helmet.... 🙄 Then finally into the water on the beach 😎.
Our fishing trail ends with circular route 20 near Carrapeteira. Sandy beach with dunes, red rocks and many shore anglers and a river that runs out of water just before the sea. The place offers nice restaurants. The last kilometers on the dusty country road are over quickly and end with a beautiful view. Carrapateira.
It was a nice round trip from Carapateira to Bodeira beach - the fishing path was partially flooded. The river mouth made the atmosphere varied. There were a few mobile homes parked there but it was not (yet) crowded. The rest of the route to Cap Pontal was varied. It ran parallel to a track that you could mostly avoid. Beautiful views and little wind made the whole thing pleasant. Crazy erosion from water and wind. After about 3 hours we passed the fish restaurant Sitio do Forno. Nice atmosphere and cooling beer as well as good food. After the break we were quickly at Praia do Amato. Lots of servers, campers and young people - how busy must it be here in summer? 1st swim in the Atlantic - pretty cool! On an unspectacular cycle path we went through fragrant eucalyptus groves back to the starting point. Nice round, thank you@Georg55
