And then take the ferry to Ayamonte 🇪🇦 for lunch and coffee and back again. The holiday tour is now complete and the entire south coast of Portugal has been cycled 💪🚴🏼♀️🚴🏻
We started this bike tour at our hotel in Cabanas. This route follows the Ecovia do Litoral in the first part. In some places we drove specifically along the sea, so that we could fully enjoy it. After Vila Real de Santo António we went via jet green to visit the castle. Then we drove back past the salt pans. Here the road was slightly worse because it had rained a lot and some trucks had driven through. Then we drove back west through the hill country. This was a very nice trip where we drove through different landscapes and also visited some towns.
🚲 Borrowed a trekking bike today. Club direction on the EV1 to Manta Rota and Altura to the nature reserve "Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim e Villa Real de Santo Antonio. The route for a bit on the main road EN 125, if you circle the area in the 🔂 direction. Then it goes left to Sao Bartolomeau. Continue over the railway tracks, behind Quinta do Sobral into the salt pan area. The path there was ok at the beginning, but after the turning point it became a mud fight 🐷 as it has been raining off and on for the last few days 🌧️. So the route is not recommended. The mud / mud has spread over the 🚲 + 🚴♀️, making it impossible to progress on the planned route directly in the saltworks area!! I had no choice but to turn around and take the EN 125-6 road to Castro Marim. There is a fortress above the town. Continue to the border town to 🇪🇸am Rio Guadiana - Villa Real de Santo Antonio. The city center was decorated for Christmas and there was even a small market. I then stopped at a fountain on the waterfront tried to clean the bike a bit with a water bottle and well water, more or less succeeded 😤. Before we went back on the EV1 through the pine forest, lunch: tuna with potatoes. Strengthened, my tour went into the pine forest, over the wooden walkways at Monte Gordo back to the starting point. The route as such was varied, with a bit of “uphill” and “downhill” going on every now and then. In the club to loosen the muscles 👙 and off in the 🏊 (inside) + 🧖
