With summer temperatures above 25 degrees, I was seized by the desire to finally tackle the 1000m tour. Even though I have already hiked a lot around Pommelsbrunn, the fantastic area with its steep climbs, narrow paths in the secluded forest and the magnificent views never ceases to amaze me. The 1000m tour consists of the approx. 10km long North Chain and the approx. 14km long South Chain, both of which start in Pommelsbrunn, and can therefore be easily divided into two wonderful and challenging hikes. I started with the North Chain. This led me up narrow paths to the Lichtenstein ruins with a fantastic view over the valley, then to the Kreuzberg, whose summit cross is reached after a little scrambling but only offers a rather overgrown view, and to the Zankelstein, from where there is a sensational view over Pommelsbrunn. The South Chain also started with a steep climb up to the Mühlkoppe with a great view and a castle ruin. The route continues to the Hochberg with the Celtic Acropolis and finally to the Houbirg with its Celtic ring wall, which would accommodate the Nuremberg city center. Before you walk along this impressive fortification over hill and dale, you can enjoy the fantastic view from the Hohle Fels over the Happurger reservoir. A beautiful and challenging hike in beautiful nature, whose steep climbs are always rewarded with impressive views. Highly recommended!
People watch out! If you miss the Kreuzberg ... you are missing 150 meters in altitude 🤣
Achterschleifweg from Pommelsbrunn. Mountains with steep gradients, limestone cliffs, shady forests, two great views, many preserved foundations and rich sites dating back to the Paleolithic period (10,000 BC).
Crunchy tour 🥵 but worth every drop of sweat, extremely cool way
Since I've already run the south and north laps individually, I wanted to try both at once. A tour with many highlights and great nature. When the weather is nice, you also have many great views. The starting point is at the train station in Pommelsbrunn. So it's also easy to get to by public transport. There are only places to stop for refreshments in Pommelsbrunn, I was at the Naturfreundehaus at the end, but it's only open on Sundays. However, if you have arrived by car, you can stow something in it, you will pass it again after the first loop. All in all a great tour, but also very strenuous. Happy 3rd Advent together
For a good two years I have been planning to do the tour again and again, as it is good practice for my upcoming mega marches and also a little bit of nature experience from my childhood. I set off at around 6:30 a.m. knowing that it will be a sunny day. I have a two-hour drive ahead of me and the joy of Hersbrucker Schweiz is coming with me. Just before 9:00 a.m. I treat myself to a second breakfast at the local bakery and as I sit on the bench bathed in the morning sun, an older gentleman comes along on his e-bike and asks me to take a photo of him with the Easter fountain. At almost exactly 9:00 a.m. I set off and run, run, run... sometimes slower when it goes uphill and then faster again when the path winds through the beech forests. I then pick up speed on the way downhill until the next incline slows me down again. I start with the northern loop and keep enjoying the fantastic view of the valley or the distance. After almost two hours I'm back at the starting point and walk briskly into the southern loop. I now also meet people who are out and about in the region, which is full of hiking trails, with and without walking sticks. Every bench in the sun is occupied and so I keep walking until I find a tree stump in the middle of the forest that invites me to take a break. I have a quick bite to eat and then I continue towards the hollow rock. I was quite surprised by the number of people (and crowds) milling around there. All of them are looking towards the valley or turning so that the selfie shows the distant, pale landscape in the valley in the background. Unfortunately I had to improvise a bit on the way because there are birds nesting there at the moment and they don't want to be disturbed. Well, that's understandable. Now it's only a few kilometers to the destination. I walk through Reckenberg and see and feel the rural idyll, with pigs, sheep and ducks... After less than five hours of walking I arrive back at the car park and regret that the path is already over. There is certainly still a lot to explore in the area, so it may well be that I set off again here....
As always, a nice round. There are currently a lot of trees across the paths. Due to all the rain in the last few days, the paths are very muddy and slippery. Despite everything, a wonderful hike.
30 kg body weight less, 5 years later the hiking trail still pulls the butter off my bread 😖😝 years ago it was a goal to even create it. It is the most beautiful + best hiking trail I know! at least once a year Greetings to Uli Vogel and Gasthof Vogel 🤟 www.1000hmr.de
