Welcome to the land of 1,001 ponds. This green piece of Limburg was once essential for fish farming. Today it is a wonderful setting for a small adventure. We cycle along nature reserves, culinary highlights, heritage and even straight through the water.

Jenever Museum

Beautiful, beautiful and not too large museum. So you can quickly pop in and a tasting is included in the entrance ticket. I tasted the locally brewed gin and I must say: it was fine, very tasty.

Magnificent circuit..the pine forest, the ponds...the cycle paths..no holes..very well maintained....no waste, no cans.. I'm rambling because it's always the same

Hello An, you have a beautiful home. Belgium is cool🇧🇪 ☺️

First real bike ride after the crash 🚴‍♂️💥 My accident happened at the end of June, and Birgit's last ride was even over a year ago 😯… so it's high time to take the bikes out again! 🎯 Destination: Hawthorn heath near Genk in Flanders... and of course, the highlight: 👉 "Fietsen door het Water" – cycling at eye level with the water 🐟💦. Pretty cool what the Belgians built there 👍😃 After that, we continued through an endless heathland 🌿🌸... one nature reserve follows the next: Het Wik, de Teut, Platwiers Wijvenheide… and who knows how many more 😅 Plenty of nature! 🌳🦋 Then came the break: after crossing the Albert Canal 🚤, the idyllic scenery suddenly came to an end. Instead of heathland and birds 🐦, there was now concrete, fences, and the smell of a factory 🏭😷 We were practically rolling along Hasselt's sprawling industrial area in "get out of here quickly" mode ⏩. Enjoying the scenery? Not really... unless you're into rusty containers and conveyor belts 😜 In the end, it was clear: a really beautiful tour 🤩 And for Birgit, who wasn't quite back in the swing of things yet, the almost 40 km were absolutely sufficient 💪😊
