Lyndhurst is often called the capital of the New Forest. It is a charming village with shops, museums, café and a lovely old church to explore. Take a walk along the high street to the gothic church of St Michael and All Angels. Alice Lidell, the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland, is buried in the adjoining graveyard. Bolton's bench is a local landmark and a lovely place to view the New Forest. Please take care not to feed the ponies at Bolton's Bench or to eat food near them, as they can be quite a nuisance.
