Today again on foot. In contrast to the Kettwig panorama dough, I can really recommend the Baldeney dough. Lots of single trails, good views, a good mix of forest and field. The only downer was the last 5 km, wide gravel road along the lake. I had downloaded the gpx in advance, which can be found on the Essen homepage, unfortunately it does not correspond to the signposted route everywhere.
Today we met very few hikers and cyclists. A nice, quiet hike in the best hiking weather! By the way ... the Baldeneysteven is always worth it.
Walked the Baldeneysteig in pleasant hiking weather. Routing is demanding as well as the signage. In some places, sure-footedness is required. Because of the inclines, fitness is required for the route. It was fun again. Glad I could be there.
The Baldeneysteig in the forest is really beautiful. Footpaths, clearings and also a small ridge. But there is also a very long stretch along the promenade along the lake, where you have to make the way with a lot of other walks and cyclists when the weather is nice. The biggest disadvantage of the hike is the buying for new housing estates, which is really not part of a nice hike. Maybe you have to get used to the fact that hikes in the Ruhr area are simply different than in the Eifel...
It was nice to be there again. The Baldeney Steig is always good, it's always beautiful and I really enjoyed it.
Today I just did a little lap to see how things are going after Corona got me too. It went to the Baldeneysteig in Essen, which leads a good 25 km around the Baldeneysee. I hiked the clockwise from Villa Hügel but counter to the classic direction. The weather was ideal for hiking and the route was very beautiful in the fall. Just right to get back in.
I like to be inspired by Komootlers whom I follow and who I just find good 😉. I saved my tour today from Sarah Wandert a long time ago 👍😊. To run this lap I had to somehow create a time window for myself, because it happened to me that for a good 20 years my wife has always met for the 1st Advent weekend with friends she rarely sees (a friend now lives in Norway), so hiking boots 🥾 🥾 on and off we go 🤩. When I drove to Essen this morning in the dark it was still raining all the time 🌨 and I wasn't sure whether it would go well 🙏. But as soon as I arrived at the free car park in Essen, there was ☔ nothing to see of rain. I save myself piking out highlights on this tour, because I am still completely occupied by this fantastic ⛰👌🥾 round 😍. Every hiker who likes 20+ kilometers must‼ hike this excellent Baldeneyststeig 🥾👍💚.
My work-free Monday inevitably led me to the Erle district of Gelsenkirchen, to the headquarters of the glorious FC Schalke 04, where I quickly finished my appointment and then headed home. 🏠 But since I was already in the region, I realized that I was still missing one of Essen's four hiking trails from my collection: the Baldeneysteig, the most popular and well-known, so I decided to take the tram, S-Bahn, and bus to Essen's Kupferdreh station, where my tour began. 🙂 I'll skip a detailed description of the tour today, as my local knowledge of the south of Essen is rather limited, but you can find everything you need to know here: https://www.visitessen.de/essentourismus_tourismusinformation/baldeneysteig.de.html ☝🏻 What's worth mentioning, though, is that the starting point was chosen quite randomly, as it was simply the closest geographically, with the walking direction clockwise, so that at the end of this quite challenging and very beautiful hike, there was a cool-down phase of 4 kilometers along the lake back to Kupferdreh train station; after almost 600 meters of elevation gain, it was very pleasant. 😃

At the eastern end of Lake Baldeney, the crossing over the former railway bridge is closed until further notice. This necessitates a roughly 2 km detour northwards via the Kampmann Bridge. In Heisingen, do not follow Stauseebogen Road (as cyclists do), but instead take the scenic lakeside path to the
