Hiking

La Maroma is the highest peak in Malaga, so it is not surprising that it gives you some of the most incredible views in the region. From its summit you can see the Mediterranean Sea and even the high peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

The path is a constant climb that begins protected by pine trees and ascends to a place where there is less and less vegetation. Halfway there you find the Temple viewpoint, the perfect place to regain strength and enjoy the landscape. You do the last stretch cresting, in an exercise to maintain your balance and ignore the vertigo. Special mention to the horses and goats that can be seen many days right at the summit.

As for the weather, it is best to avoid summer due to the heat. In winter, you may encounter ice and some snow. The Route begins in the El Robledal recreational area, where you can park your vehicle. The place is also a controlled camping area that has barbecues, services and a fountain. In addition, just five kilometers away, you will find the Los Caños de la Alcaicería Hotel Restaurant, which offers you accommodation and a hearty dish to recharge your batteries.

La Maroma Summit

Highlight • Summit

This 2069 meter peak was originally called Pico Tejeda because it was the highest point in the mountain range of the same name. The name La Maroma comes from the ropes used to lower the snow that was stored in a natural chasm located 40 meters south of the trig point.

This chasm was known as Sima de la Maroma and that led to the summit being named the same way.

It is located between the provinces of Granada and Malaga, being the highest point of the second, and on clear days you can see the crescent-shaped coast drawn by the Alboran Sea from Ceuta to Oran.
