Discover the highlights around the Hoherodskopf on this circular tour that takes you through one of the oldest nature parks in Germany. Hike through shady mixed forests, enjoy wide views, experience the bubbling of springs, look at basalt domes and marvel at one of the last raised bogs. It starts at the Hoherodskopf, which you can easily reach by bus. The tour can also be done with a stroller.
At the beginning you hike through the forest towards Taufstein, the highest elevation in the Vogelsberg. If you like, you can make a detour to the summit. The path takes you further to the raised bog, the only one in Hesse alongside the raised bog of the Rhön. Here you can also take a detour to the Geiselstein, whose rock has such a high iron content that it is magnetic.
You circle around the Breungeshainer Heide and pass the bubbling Niddaquelle. Following the Nidda, you come to the picturesque trout pond, which offers unique flora and fauna. On the way back, you can once again enjoy wonderful views over the gently rolling Vogelsberg region and finally end the tour at one of the refreshment stops at Hoherodskopf.

A pleasant circular route around the Hoherodskopf with lots of seating and great panoramic views.
We treated ourselves to a detour on the treetop path (€ 8.50 entry) and a break in the "mountain hut".

Today I braved my lingering cold and hiked the Höhenrundweg (high-altitude circular trail) in the Vogelsberg Mountains. A lovely, relaxing hike for me and my wife. 🚺
Greetings 👍🙋♂️🙋♀️🥾🌞
