Do you want to follow in Goethe's footsteps? The historic Gemmi mule track is still fascinating today. From the village, you first climb steeply up to Sunnbüel and then to the venerable Schwarenbach mountain hotel. Well rested, you then tackle the Daubensee and the steep descent to Leukerbad.

Very beautiful views and technically easy but rather difficult climb in terms of elevation. Snow starts from 1900m and up on the Gemmi pass. It was already real winter, beautiful, snowy and sunny. Unfortunately, my phone decided to glitch and the touchscreen didn't work until the phone's battery was fully dischrged. That's why I only have photos from the climb. 😭It's a pity because it was much more beautiful further on. It will be a reason to come back on this route!
The classic tour. On old mule tracks from the bathing village of Leukerbad in Valais over the steep Gemmi Pass and the Valais Alps to Kandersteg Bern. A good level of fitness is required and is required for the ascent to the Gemmi Pass. On the Gemmipass, the landscape opens up with the large Daubensee and the hike from the Gemmipass to Sunnbüel is very pleasant. The steep and shady descent from Sunnbüel to Kandersteg can be bypassed with a gondola lift.
