Hiking

A hiking experience awaits you on this dream trail, with historic castles, picturesque valleys, and spectacular views. The start and finish of the hike is Brodenbach, which you can also reach by bus. From there, the trail first leads to the Teufelslay refuge, from where you have spectacular views over the Moselle.

You then hike across the Nörtershausen plateau into the picturesque Brodenbach valley and to the impressive Ehrenburg castle. The majestic castle towers high above the Ehrbach ridge and transports you back to the Middle Ages – a visit is well worth it!

Further on, the idyllic Ehrenbach valley awaits you. Finally, you return to the Moselle valley on the Sonnenring path, dotted with wonderful viewpoints.

An absolutely recommendable climb. The view is fantastic. The further tour over the Teufels Lay is also highly recommended. ALSO POSSIBLE WITH CHILDREN AND DOGS.

The Nörteshausen church is under the patronage of Saint Anthony, his statue dominates the apse. Close observers will notice a small pig next to his figure; the animal is his attribute. In the Rhenish dialect he is therefore called "Ferkes-Tünn", which is made up of the word Ferkel for a young pig and the short form of Antonius. The term may sound disrespectful to non-Rhinelanders, but it is by no means meant that way.

Donnerloch Cascades

Highlight • Waterfall

Leaving the hiking trail and descending a few stone steps, you'll find an area between large slate blocks with two benches and several rocky steps over which the Brodenbach stream bubbles. A wonderful, cool spot for a rest with the meditative sound of the water.

The dream path is beautiful. At first the weather was unfortunately very rainy. But that didn't detract from the journey. Quaint paths, decent gradients and a castle. Hiking with pleasure!

Dream path, fantastically beautiful 🤩 see for yourself ☺️...I have to relax now 😉

The tour once again lived up to its name "Traumpfad". I stopped by the Vogelsang campsite for the first time 👍 The final stop with dinner in the "Alter Moselhang" restaurant, on the other hand, was nothing: dry meat, 🍟 so-so, salad too. Today Taunus Mo brought Opiharry. He found out that we laughed a lot. Hope Opiharry wasn't the last to hike with us.

Fantastic weather, fantastic location, fantastic path! Wonderfully shady with a light breeze, the paths on the slope well-dry (no danger of slipping), fantastic scenery, and on a Monday, wonderfully secluded! Ehrenburg Castle costs a €4 "bridge toll" – a price you're happy to pay for the excellently maintained grounds, where you can stroll freely!

This is how Monday works 👍-dream path 🥾🥾 on a dream day 🌞😎

This hike was planned for last Sunday, but I didn't get up early so I postponed it until today. I have hiked SO OFTEN from Buchholz to Brodenbach, sometimes with and sometimes without a climb to Ehrenburg, that it's almost hard to believe that I've never actually hiked the dream path Bergschluchtenpfad Ehrenburg 😵 Such a shame! Today was one of the most beautiful dream paths I've ever come across. I didn't find anything about it unpleasant 🤩. And the weather was fantastic, what more could you want? ☀️🌞 In general, I love autumn, in places you can still clearly see how summer is clinging to nature with warm, soft fingers and isn't ready to let go yet, while on the other side autumn is just as clearly pulling with long, cold and gnarled grippers. Crisp cold in the morning🥶 and a lot of fog, but still noticeably warm in the sun🌞, the first colored leaves🍂🍁 are lying on the paths and the last messengers of summer🏵🪻🌻 🤩 I set off very early today in Brodenbach🌄, an hour later would have been better. I like to hike at sunrise but here I had to walk a few kilometers through a gorge and the gentle rays of sun didn't reach there, in short it was and stayed dark until I got to the top and I only made very slow progress because the path is uneven and in places really requires surefootedness. A headlamp🔦 would have been a lot of help, but I left it at home. The first beautiful view of the Moselle makes up for it, however, and is topped off in the fading dawn by clouds of fog hanging over the water. We continued through meadows, forests and fields past a herd of curious cows with the same fur color as me, and I stroked the most curious one right on the nose. Redheads among themselves and all that 👩🏻‍🦰🐂☺️🥰 You walk across foggy fields towards Nörtershausen, but don't cross the town, instead turn right at the edge of the town and then walk past the town with your left shoulder always brushing against it. A little further on you pass the Donnerloch, which has nothing to do with a thunder beam, even if it sounds similar, but is a former cult site of the Germanic tribes dedicated to the god "Donar". At least that's what it says on the sign. We continue towards Ehrenburg 🏰, after leaving a whole colony of Christmas trees🎄 behind you. I actually wanted to visit the castle again, but three large tour groups that stormed onto the castle grounds before me stopped me from doing so. Personally, that would have been too much hustle and bustle for me, as the castle isn't that big. I then cooked my lunch on the gas cooker on the wall in front of the castle. It was, how could it be otherwise, some Asian noodles, which then also caused amusement for those walking past. From "Noodles? Early in the morning????" (It was 12 o'clock but it doesn't matter, for some that might still be considered early in the morning) to "culinary delights at their finest" to "Ah, I'm sure a former festival person", there was a lot to it. Then it's down towards the Ehrenburger Valley, on this "descent" 9 cyclists came towards me, panting (who actually had to rely on their own muscle power and had no support from a battery, so no e-bikes). Once at the bottom, I head back into the passage towards the Vogelsang mill and campsite, which I already know from last Saturday. Then the last climb and the last 3.5km. Both the ascent and the descent are tough, even if not miles long. You are rewarded with great views of Brodenbach and the Moselle🏞 I arrive at the market square in Brodenbach almost at the same time as the bus and make my way home. This dream path was more than worth it. I'm still a little blown away 😊

Dream path as written in beech 😀 Jumped off despite the weather forecast 😀 and behlont, didn't get wet. Mega beautiful paths 😀 really very narrow in some places and have to be careful. Donnerloch lives up to its name 😀 it really thunders. I can only recommend 😀

A dream path at the start of the season. Unfortunately, he was totally soaked in places and therefore quite muddy. Nevertheless, it was a demanding up and down in a varied landscape.
