This route was planned by komoot.
On the last day of your vacation, you lace up your hiking boots in the Wachau. From the Oberkienstock hiking car park, the Meurersteig leads steadily upwards through the forest and after about 2 km you have already reached the summit with the new Seekopfwarte. Of course, I don't miss the breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view and the Hirschwand is also worth climbing, but you have to climb a small via ferrata and if you're not afraid of heights, you probably won't have any fun here. The descent takes a little longer because the countless bizarre rock formations alone constantly attract attention. The beautiful views down to the Danube that always present themselves are also worth marveling at and it's worth planning a little more time here to pause and take photos. We walk back briskly along the cycle path along the Danube - still in sunshine - to the car park and at the end of the hike (the short holiday) we recommend, how could it be otherwise!?, a visit to the Heurigen😉.
The Meurersteig to the Seekopf is steep and sweaty, but always beautiful. It wasn't too warm today, sometimes there were a few raindrops. Unfortunately, the view from the beautiful, new Seekopfwarte was not that special due to the cloudy weather. The many rock formations next to the path make this hike a varied experience.
