This route was planned by komoot.
I was torn this morning... the Amsterdam water supply dunes with the deer from Zandvoort or the more rolling dune landscape with its beautiful lakes in South Kennemerland from Overveen... difficult!!! The last-minute decision came 10 seconds before Overveen station 😅 Kennemerland won this time... sorry deers, see you soon! 👋😊
I think this is one of the most beautiful dune / beach walks in my region, the Kennemerduinen are beautiful and diverse, even quite a few differences in height by Dutch standards, unfortunately with quite a bit of water nuisance at the moment, which resulted in a few detours and navigation puzzles, but which can certainly be found with some Komoot blood in your veins. I don't think I need to tell you that you certainly don't have the course all to yourself with all this natural beauty in combination with a first sunny Sunday in living memory... it was busy, but hey, when the sun finally shines, even if it's Sunday, there's only one option: go and we can't be stopped, but a weekday is definitely recommended!
The Kennemerduinen dunes were on my list to visit again and explore further. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful areas in the Netherlands. What a beautiful day it was! Nice and cold with a watery sun that grew brighter as the day progressed, bathed in beautiful light. I walked along 't Wed lake into the dunes, enjoying beautiful views and winding narrow paths towards the sea. I warmed up nicely at Parnassia and then walked along a stretch of beach. Beautiful Konik horses came into view as I crested the dune. With rosy cheeks from the cold, I finally arrived back at the visitor center after this wonderful, almost wintry walk.
