Located on the Bregenzerwald-Bähnle railway cycle path, you have a beautiful view of the historic power plant from 1908, which was one of the most modern of its time during the monarchy.

These easier routes are generally up to two hours long with around 500 feet of elevation gain.

What is the terrain like on this cycling route?

The terrain is quite varied. You'll find expansive valley floors with gentle gradients, but also more challenging mountain passes and wild ravines. Where can I park to access the route?

Trail Reviews

Sabine & Tom
October 10, 2021, Von Doren nach Schoppernau (Bregenzerwald im Vorarlberg) 🇦🇹 ⛰️

We started our tour at 10 degrees and cloudy weather right at our guesthouse in Doren (700 meters in altitude). The first 5 km we went downhill to 470 meters, where we drove about 10 km on the old Wälderbahntrasse / OR 3: Bregenzerwald route along the Bregenzer Ach. Now it went through Egg, Andelsbuch, Bersbuch and Schwarzenberg to Mellau - one of the largest ski areas in the Bregenz Forest. A mountain railway also starts from here. The next section went through Hirschau, Schnepfau and Au to Schoppernau. Here we reached our destination after almost 44 km - the Diedamskopfbahn (valley station) at 850 meters above sea level. *** Sequel follows: *** From Schoppernau to Doren

*** Continuation: *** After we redeemed our tickets at the valley station, we started a 20-minute ride on the panorama train to the summit of the Diedamskopf at an altitude of 2,090 m. The view was fantastic, because up here the sky was almost cloudless and bright blue. We absorbed the last of the sun's rays and set out on our way back to the valley and back to Doren. On the way you took one or two photos and hurried to get home before dawn. On the entire route (> 85 km) we were allowed to ride on wonderful bike paths and marvel at numerous and impressive sights. Many greetings to all the other cyclists and we hope we were able to make our route tasty for you!
