This route was planned by komoot.
Nice nature reserve, but the sun ☀️ was a bit intense today. Nevertheless, a nice round, also along the beach to the lighthouse.
1. Introductory tour in the core zone of the national park. ☀️
We took the Darßbahn from the rescue center car park. Costs 30 € for 2 adults/2 children for a day pass (whoever has it is preferred on the return trip if it is too full). Nice round, but also way too crowded outside of the season 😖. Access to the café at the Natureum only with an admission ticket, outside the Pachtklo for 50 cents.
The Darßer Ort circular hiking trail is a 4-kilometer hiking trail. It runs alternately through sand and boardwalks. We were the first on the trail this morning and were rewarded with silence and sun. We arrived by bike from Prerow and we started at the bike stand near the emergency port, there was nothing going on here in the morning. It goes past lakes and through a beautiful dune landscape to the great west beach. The Darßer Ort lighthouse, which is well worth seeing, is a highlight. Definitely stop here and climb the tower, the view is awesome! A great route and especially deserted outside of peak times...
The Darß... I love it so much, and even though you feel like you already know every corner... I never get bored at all seeing and exploring it again and again. Today I went by (e-)bike from Wustrow along the Bodden to Born and from there to the lighthouse/Darßer Ort. Two years ago, the tour through the nature reserve and along the boardwalk was not possible. Back then, there were terrible storms and heavy rain, and parts of the boardwalk had to be completely rebuilt. So I was all the more excited about this loop, and yes... it was incredibly windy, but with lots of sun and a wonderful view in all directions. Incredibly beautiful! The loop isn't long or challenging, but the pictures don't really capture the impressions. In short... a great little experience. Then I went via Prerow... here I was able to marvel at the new large pier - via Wiek - Born - Ahrenshoop back to Wustrow.
As a starting point for this tour, we have taken the “Nothafen” terminus of the small Darssbahn.
Today we hiked from the former emergency harbor "Darsser Ort" to the lighthouse through the national park. The former emergency harbor has been demolished and renaturalized for 2 years. The picture has changed completely and it has become soooo beautiful. The entrance is now very silted up, the dredging was a point of contention every year. Now a new island harbor is being built in Prerow with space for the sea rescue cruiser. (Last picture) We do the tour to the lighthouse every year and it is always beautiful....
We take the Darß Railway from Prerow, at the Bernstein parking lot, to the national park entrance. From there, we start our tour, first to Lake Otto and the seal banks, where, of course, we don't see anything. We continue through stunning landscapes and dunes. There's a café at the lighthouse, but unfortunately, there's an entrance fee for the café and the tower climb. You'll be asked to pay for everything here!
