Cycling

In northern Germany, ship captains are called "Schipper". On this tour, you will cycle in their footsteps between the shipping town of Haren and the Hanseatic town of Meppen. You will almost always cycle along the Ems, which connects both towns like a blue ribbon.

It starts in Haren, where you are comfortably led out of the town along the banks of the Ems. You circle the Europahafen and then follow the route in an almost straight line to the Hanseatic town of Meppen. Here in the town center, the Hase, the Ems and the Dortmund-Ems Canal flow directly together. In the beautiful old town of Meppen, which lies between the Ems and the Hase, you can take a long break before continuing the tour north. On the Emsland route, you cycle to the left of the Ems until you reach Borkener Paradies. Here in the nature reserve, there is a viewing point near the old Versen weir, which is ideal for a short rest. When you see the Haren harbor, you have almost reached your destination.

You only have to pedal a few more times and you are back at your starting point. At the end of the tour, you can take a stroll through the city center and let yourself be enchanted by the maritime flair of the city thanks to the shipping museum, maritime mile and marina.

October 20, 2024,Bosch eBike Tour: Meppen
A beautiful autumn tour along the Ems from Meppen to Haren and back. In Meppen there was the annual town hall fair and in Haren the Holland market. And in between there is a beautiful cycle path. It doesn't matter whether you ride on the left or right side, both sides have their charm.
