This route was planned by komoot.
We finished important things at home and set off again. First, a quick detour to the Theresienwiese, where the crowds had started to gather for the parade. No sign of our children yet. Then a sprint north. The weather forecast promised us the most hours of sunshine there. It was almost right. But at least Sandro's ice cream in Freising was amazing again, and we only got a little wet on the way home. Overall, a lovely Father's Day 😊
Today, in the perfect weather, I wanted to make my second attempt at a longer ride on my gravel bike. All the signs were better than last time. Weather, check, no cramps in my thighs after 30km, check, blood glucose sensor still working, check. Under these circumstances, I then headed past the Sechzger Stadium down to the Isar River and up to Freilassing. I had to skip the food at the Flaucher beer garden because there were too many visitors and I was too afraid to leave the bike alone, but the scoop of ice cream was enough to make up for it 😀☀️🚴♂️
Stage 3 to the source of the Isar in the Karwendel Mountains! Day 3 begins just as Day 2 ended. You cycle along good, compact gravel paths along the Isar River, making good progress. Eventually, you arrive in Munich, and the great thing about it is that you don't even notice you're in a big city. It's always quiet and green all around you. The paths are now paved, and there are benches everywhere to sit down and places to stop for a break in the form of beer gardens. As quickly as you arrive in Munich, you're already through, passing beaches and the Flaucher mountain. Shortly after, you're almost alone again and now have a few meters of elevation to pedal along the Isar. But the great thing is that you can stop and treat yourself to a break almost every few kilometers!
