Comfortable e-bike tour around Lake Sempach. We found the route for this round on the Sursee website. It is described there, among other things, with restaurants and cozy spots by the lake. So we set off with the idea of enjoying an aperitif spritz somewhere by the lake on a beautiful terrace. In the knowledge that this will probably not be the case. We parked directly at the train station in the small P+R car park. From there you cycle via the pretty old town along the western shore of the lake, never pedaling directly on the lake. But through fields and past farms, which is also very nice. After Nottwil begins the most scenic part, but also the most strenuous. You kubelt about 300 meters up to Hubpründigen (Merzeberg). On this section you have a wonderful view over the lake. In addition, you are away from the large flow of tourists in the "free" landscape. You'll soon be whizzing down to Sempach again. First past the famous ornithological station, then into the pretty old town. Here is the right place to take a short break, the restaurants are quite cozy. And there is also aperitif... After Sempach you bike two more smaller climbs, also with a view over the lake and away from the crowds that cycle along the lake shore on the bike path. Of course you can also use this if you want to make fewer meters in altitude. After the second small "hill" you cycle down to Sursee, again through the small old town. As written above, I had already seen in advance when planning the tour that the route only runs close to the lake for a short time. And we will probably not come across a restaurant on the lake. That was the case. I can't say why it's advertised that way. If that means the swimming pool restaurants (there are about three of them), then... Well, whoever likes it. The tour is very nice and we are glad not to have cycled directly on the lake. There was a lot going on there and smooth driving was probably only possible in between. We would drive them the same way again.
Always a tour around Sämpachersee, with the weather a dream 🥰
and hop, from the Neuenkirch service area we set off in the direction of Lake Sempach. Soon we discovered the first outlines and the anticipation grew. Unfortunately, the passage through Sempach was a bit chaotic and there was no wow feeling. On the other hand, the higher route to Sursee fully compensated. The little town of Sursee looked a bit prettier and we were able to enjoy a stop at the Wilden Mann. The return via Nottwil again peppered with prospects. So really worth experiencing.
