This road bike tour from Neubrandenburg to Feldberg Lakeland is approximately 91 kilometers long and generally takes around 3 hours and 51 minutes to complete on a racebike, depending on your pace and stops.
The terrain on this route is varied, reflecting the Ice Age landscape of the Mecklenburg Lake District. While primarily suited for road bikes, expect a mix of paved and some potentially gravelled sections. You'll encounter both 'one or another climb' and 'relaxing downhill parts', offering a dynamic cycling experience.
Rated as 'moderate' difficulty, this 91-kilometer route with nearly 480 meters of elevation gain is best suited for cyclists with a good level of fitness and some experience with longer road bike tours. It might be challenging for absolute beginners.
The tour offers picturesque scenery with beautiful nature and charming villages. You'll pass through sections like the L341 between Lüttenhagen and Feldberg, a Quiet country road near Rowa, and a Quiet Road Between Neubrandenburg and Rowa. The region is rich in lakes, forests, and historical manors, providing plenty of scenic views.
Yes, the route briefly overlaps with several other official trails. You'll find sections that are part of the Elbe-Oderhaff Radweg, Eiszeitroute (Rundroute 4), Rundweg Breiter Luzin, and the Stadtmauer und Burg trail, among others.
The best time for road cycling in the Mecklenburg Lake District is typically from late spring to early autumn (May to September). During these months, the weather is generally mild, and the natural scenery is at its most vibrant. Avoid peak summer if you prefer cooler temperatures, and be prepared for potential rain showers in any season.
Generally, no special permits or entrance fees are required for cycling on public roads and designated cycle paths within the Naturpark Feldberger Seenlandschaft. However, always respect local signage, stay on marked routes, and be mindful of nature conservation rules, especially regarding protected areas.
While the route primarily follows public roads and cycle paths, which are generally accessible, it's important to consider the length and nature of a 91 km road bike tour for your dog. If you plan to bring a dog, ensure it is accustomed to long distances and can be safely transported or run alongside your bike without disturbing wildlife or other cyclists. Always keep dogs on a leash in natural areas and dispose of waste properly.
Neubrandenburg, being a regional hub, offers various parking options. Look for public parking facilities within the city, especially near the city center or main train station, which would provide convenient access to the starting point of the tour. Specific parking availability can vary, so checking local parking apps or signs upon arrival is recommended.
As the route connects Neubrandenburg to Feldberg Lakeland and passes through several villages, you will likely find opportunities for refreshments. Both Neubrandenburg and Feldberg offer various cafes, restaurants, and shops. Smaller villages along the way may also have local eateries or bakeries, but it's always wise to carry enough water and snacks, especially for longer stretches between towns.
For this moderate 91 km road bike tour, essential gear includes a well-maintained road bike, a helmet, appropriate cycling attire, a repair kit (spare tube, pump, tire levers), sufficient water and snacks, navigation tools (like a GPS device or smartphone with the route downloaded), and sun protection. Given the varied terrain, consider tires suitable for both paved and potentially some smoother gravel sections.
It's history again 😭 it was nice. Luckily, thanks to Cube bike's service, my knee problems have been resolved 😍😍 I was actually able to ride the whole route without any problems 😍 it was another great experience
It was a well-prepared tour that I managed with a daughter from Dresden and a friend.
The joy of adventure and the magic of enjoyment. That's how I describe the MSR - 100, the Mecklenburg Lakes Circuit 2025, a superbly organized event that took us through the charming landscape of Mecklenburg, 104 kilometers through picturesque forests and hilly landscapes. The main focus was the fun of completing this tour with many like-minded, athletic people. Of course, there was also a bit of ambition involved. That adds even more excitement. The crowning finale at the finish line, amidst the cheers of the spectators and the awarding of a medal, is a thrill. I'm thrilled!
