The Rudolfstein is a forested mountain in the northeastern Schneeberg massif of the Fichtel Mountains, south of Weißenstadt. It lies on the Höhenweg (high trail) at 866 m above sea level. In the summit area, there are several rock formations made of tin granite, layered by woolsack weathering, forming a protected natural monument. A staircase has led to the highest rock tower since 1890. Nestled in the rock formation, there once stood a small castle (Rudolfstein Castle), which has disappeared almost without a trace.
A very nice hike with some heights but nice rocks. From the Rudolfstein you have a great view of Weißenstadt
Route: Weißenstädter See - Rudolfstein - Drei Brüder - Schönlind - Weißenstädter See From the hiking car park at Weißenstädter See, follow the circular hiking trail 3 (black 3 on yellow) for the complete circular hike. Leave the parking lot and walk a short distance along the lake to the so-called "Bummeltränke" (snack trough), where you turn right. After crossing Bayreuther Straße, walk uphill past the rock cellars and the Lederer residential area towards Rudolfstein. The Rudolfstein (866 m) is part of the Schneeberg massif. With its layered rock formations, it is a protected natural monument. A staircase leads to the highest rock tower, from where you have a wonderful view of Weißenstädter See. The route continues to the Drei Brüder (840 m) geosite, three mighty granite rocks standing side by side, formed by weathering and erosion and very popular with climbers. From here, the hiking trail leads to the Rudolfsattel. Turn right and follow the connecting path to the rowan tree. Here, turn right again onto the wide forest path and hike downhill to Schönlind. On small forest paths, head towards Weißenstadt, across the Siebenquell®GesundZeitResort parking lot, and through the underpass back to the starting point. Parking: Weißenstädter See parking lot, Bayreuther Straße, Weißenstadt Refreshments: Landgasthof Birkenhof, Schönlind 29, Weißenstadt-OT Schönlind, Tel.: +49 9253 9543424 Various restaurants and cafés in Weißenstadt
The weather forecast had promised a little sun for today. So we went out into the fresh air. A hike to the Rudolfstein was our goal. This rock formation had already caught our interest some time ago, and a wonderful walk from Weißenstadt took us to the rock in question. After a small picnic, we also passed the Three Brothers Rock. Then we went straight back to Weißenstadt. We had a great late autumn day between forest and rock, simply beautiful.
Very nice viewpoint in the area. Geologically impressive rock formations. The "Three Brothers" are also worth a visit. The circular route no. 3 is very well signposted, mostly on narrow paths. Overall a wonderful tour.
@Fichtelgebirgsverein e. V. The Rudolfstein climbing facility is a small to large challenge for dogs. Leash and harness are obsolete for the little adventure 🐾 🐶 We 3 did it ✨
Today we spent another lovely day, even with ☀️, in the beautiful Fichtel Mountains 🥰. There are many beautiful rock formations along the way. Absolutely recommendable, entertaining tour with many beautiful sights 👍🏻 It was lovely to visit our neighbours in Bavaria again.
