Spessart Biking 08: Panorama loop – MTB in the Spessart Mountains

Breathtaking views, tough climbs, and flowing trails – this tour has it all. At 22 kilometers long, it's ideal for an after-work ride. You'll discover the foothills of the Hessian Spessart Nature Park in the forests above Wächtersbach. The town in the Kinzig Valley is well-connected. You can reach it easily by regional train or via the highway. The route starts just around the corner from the castle park, where there is ample parking for your car.

After just a few minutes, you'll leave the city buildings behind you and initially cycle along the edge of the forest above the valley. The climb is ideal for warming up. You'll get your first glimpses of the Spessart forests beyond the Kinzig River. After all, the tour isn't called the "Panorama Loop" for nothing. After passing Hesseldorf and Weilers, another climb awaits you. You pass through a tunnel under the railway line and reach the banks of the Kinzig River. Follow this for a short distance before finally crossing it at Aufenau.

The gravel paths lead towards Bad Orb. If you have the time, a short detour into this beautiful town is worthwhile, perhaps for a stop or an ice cream. You've already climbed the elevation of this tour, so you're definitely in for a reward. The rest of the route is gently downhill to flat and takes you back to the Kinzig River. When you cross it, you'll already be on the outskirts of Wächtersbach and will soon find yourself back at your starting point.
