This route was planned by komoot.
Used the NÖ-CARD today. It was very windy and foggy on the mountain with temperatures above 2 degrees Celsius.
🤩Very nice panoramic tour at a pleasant 21 degrees today👌🏼😃🍺 (free up and down with the Nö Card)
Lt. Today's weather report should be the best day to go to the Schneeberg. We went up on the first train. It was sunny, unfortunately the visibility was not perfect. But we were more than compensated for it with a variety of flowers. It looked so beautiful and only confirmed my opinion - Schneeberg always works. At noon the visibility got better but it got very hot. So we had a bit of everything, except for the rain - we left that out. It was a wonderful day and I already know today that we will be going up again next year.
If you are already in Puchberg, then of course the classic hikes should not be missing. So today it was time to take the first salamander up to the Schneeberg. The colorful alpine flowers that awaited us above were a feast for the eyes. You seldom see so much blooming in one spot. Unfortunately, the amount of flowers doesn't really show itself in the photos. First we paid a short visit to the Elisabeth Chapel. Then we went to the monastery coat of arms, then to the fisherman's hut for a cold drink and then over the forest road back to the mountain station. In the morning some clouds came in and the view was not very clear, rather hazy. Around noon the clouds went away again, but it suddenly got hot and the visibility a little better. Despite the not 100% great panoramic view, it is always an experience to take a lap on the Schneeberg. The ride with the Salamander is free for owners of the NÖ-Card.
Today we went on a tour through the Czech Republic and Austria in the direction of Schneeberg. We completed the ascent from Puchberg am Schneeberg with the Schneebergbahn, which manages the 1200 m difference in altitude in 40 minutes. Starting below at 23 degrees and sunshine, 10 degrees and fog with visibility in the range of 50 m awaited us up at 1800 m. Nevertheless, we wanted to hike to the Fischerhütte at 2049 m during the stay. The way there led past grazing cows on a wide hiking highway, the slopes of which were, however, already quite crisp in parts. With increasing altitude the visibility got worse and the wind whistled through well. After refreshment in the fisherman's hut with Stiegl and Käsespätzle, we went over the Schneeberg at 2067 m back to the mountain station. Up there it got a bit disgusting when the visibility was only 10-20 m in sections and the wind whistled at what felt like 80-100 km / h over the summit of the highest mountain in Lower Austria. The descent was then more rocky than expected, so that we were on the way longer than planned. Albeit just barely, we then reached the booked descent as a precision landing 2 minutes before departure. In between it tore open again, so that the great views could also be described as such.
The monastery coat of arms on the Schneberg is the highest peak in Lower Austria. A mountain peak that is easy to climb. From Puchberg take the cog railway to the mountain station. From there it can be reached in an hour.
