Hiking

Experience prehistoric geological history up close on the Tablelands Trail in Gros Morne National Park, one of the only places in the world where you can walk along the Earth's mantle. The landscape was formed millions of years ago when the African and North American continents collided, pushing oceanic rock to the surface and creating an otherworldly terrain.

The area is bursting with local wildlife – keep your eyes peeled for moose and puffins. The trail ends in the impressive Winter House Brook Canyon. The canyon was formed by glaciers, and its red rock makes it seem like you’re on the surface of Mars. The spectacular landscape is a testament to eastern Canada’s stunning nature.

The Serpentine Loop is ideal for a shorter hike. You can also book onto a guided tour for a deeper insight into the unique geology and ecology of the region.

Please keep to the paths in order to protect the rare and sensitive plants in this unique landscape.
