This route was planned by komoot.
A fairly strenuous but beautiful hike to the Notkarspitze. It offers repeated, magnificent views of the impressive Ettal Abbey, Garmisch, and the Zugspitze Arena, as well as, of course, the Ammergau mountains and the Alpine foothills. The northern descent, in particular, is almost entirely T3 and requires careful walking and strong knees.
I didn't really feel like it in the rain. But sitting in the room isn't an option either. Such a long time for almost 14 km. The worst part was the descent. I've done this tour three times now. Every time I go down I get a cramp in my thigh, and almost always in the same place, an exposed spot. Today I had a cramp four times. In both thighs. But only on this tour, and only on the descent. I don't think I'll do this one again. I'm done for today.
Circular hike in late autumn around Ettal. Steep ascent to the Notkarspitze with a beautiful view of the Ettal and the surrounding Ammergau mountains. Descent via the two lower peaks Ziegelspitz and Ochsensitz.
Start at just before nine in the parking lot at Ettaler Sattel. The parking lot was already well filled (6 euros for the day). Have a nice Saturday in summer. But people got lost. I found the ascent to the Notkarspitze not too strenuous. The descent towards Ettaler Mühler bothered me a bit (I'm not getting any younger). Some passages are secured with steel cables. All in all a nice day 😊 (at the end of the day, stop at the Greeks in Oberammergau).
Today we went from Ettal to 3 summits. Actually I didn't want to do anything today and tomorrow on the roof of Germany. But I didn't want to do anything tomorrow and then again on Wednesday. Thunderstorms are forecast for Wednesday. So the only thing left for me is tomorrow. But today 1130 Hm and yesterday 1370 Hm stuck in the legs. It was really tough today, as you can see from my average time.
Again to the Notkarspitze. From the Ettaler Mühle the climb is steep and varied. This time we didn't see any chamois in the beautiful Notkar or in the Großkaralm area and they hid 😉. In strong foehn winds on the Notkarspitze, quickly descended via Ziegelspitz and Ochsensitz and from Ettaler Sattel on the forest path back to the mill. A lonely climb to the top, then all the hikers from the Ettaler Sattel came towards us. The descents via Gießenbachtal or Kühalpenbachtal are more lonely.
