The starting point of the tour is in Saalbach. From the Schattberg X-Press you take the cycle path along the stream out of the valley to the Jausern district. Here you then follow the Löhnersbachweg always along the stream until the path winds to the right at a large torrent barrier towards the Rammern Jausenstation. Shortly before the said snack station you follow the forest path to the left. Yes, there will soon be a steep uphill climb, but you can do that. It is a little flatter over the Limbergalm. After you have passed under the chairlift route, a crisp driveway awaits you again and you will reach the saddle between the Schattberg east and west peaks.

If you are motivated for an additional summit and a few extra meters of descent on the X-Line, then you can now branch off to the right to the Schattberg-Ostgipfel. Otherwise, follow the steep forest road to the left to the Schattberg-West summit, which you will reach after another 150 meters of altitude. At the west summit you now have a brilliant panorama up to the Hohe Tauern and many other mountains. Enjoy your snack and the view before you get ready for the descent.

It goes down via the Hacklberg Trail and then further on the Buchegg Trail or you drive down the forest road - we think the trails are great. At the end of the Buchegg trail, it goes uphill for a few meters over the asphalt road and on over the meadow trail to Hinterglemm. From here you roll comfortably along the Saalach back to the starting point at the Schattberg X-Press.

Hacklberg Trail

Highlight (Segment) • MTB Park

The Hacklberg Trail is probably the most legendary trail in the Alps – mountain bike history was and is being written here.

The Hacklberg Trail in Saalbach Hinterglemm can be easily reached via the SchattbergXpress and a short ascent to the west summit. It starts off smoothly – slightly wavy over alpine meadows and always in a constant and wavy up and down, back and forth. It seems that the natural flow trail was invented here. At least that's how it feels. The gradient gives mountain bikers a pleasant speed that is suitable for the Signature Trail.

In 2014 the second part of the trail below the Hacklberg-Alm was opened. Here it is wavy and with numerous berms through the forest. You have found your own language and thus the perfect extension of the legendary Hacklberg Trail.

Hinterglemm

Highlight • Settlement

The town is nestled against the backdrop of the Pinzgauer Grasberge and the Kitzbühel Alps. It's no wonder, then, that the region has been considered Austria's mountain biking mecca for years. There's something for everyone here, as there's an enormous network of trails with over 400 kilometers of routes for all levels of difficulty. Simply hop on your bike and start pedaling.

The ascent from Jausern to the east and west summits is a dream, the descent via the Hackelberg trail is only recommended for downhillers and younger people

Instead of the trail, we took the gondola down to the middle station and continued leisurely from there. Highly recommended option if you don't want to go back the same way (if you ride trails, take the trail and have fun 😜)

Sooooooo beeeaaaautiful. The long hike up to the SimalAlm. That can't be all there is to it, so we continued to the Schattberg Ost and then over to the Wesr. Our legs were still fresh, we thought we could do more. We ran down the Hackelberg Trail and then over to the Huberalm and then to the Gerstalm, then briefly …

Nice round. You should also like to go uphill. When you're up there, the effort is quickly forgotten. The view is terrific. 👍
