Road cycling

This route starts from Geneva-Cornavin station and ends at Bellegarde-sur-Valserine station. From there, you can easily return to Geneva by train. The most daring can even consider completing the loop by taking the EuroVelo 17. But be careful of the weather, you should allow a good three hours more.

The route takes you to the heart of the high Jura mountain range. A real immersion in this world of mountain pastures, rolling meadows, fir trees and large farms in Franche-Comté, just a few pedal strokes from Geneva. A guaranteed change of scenery. The reward? A beautiful pass to climb. But the Col de la Faucille is spectacular and is a reward in itself. The views of the Mont-Blanc massif will make you forget your efforts.

Once on the other side of the pass, you take the magnificent Route de Chézery followed by the Route de Confort. They form a tarmacked corridor along the Valserine, very smooth, with beautiful climbs and superb descent lines. In places, the surface is new. In terms of scenery, the route sometimes goes into the undergrowth, and also opens onto magnificent open viewpoints. A real pleasure!

Napoleon Fountain

You shouldn't miss it because it's right in the hairpin bend and traffic can be heavy. Located at an altitude of 1,047 metres as you descend from the Col de la Faucille, the fountain is drinkable, unlike those in many villages you come across in the area; it can be useful.
