On the hike to the lakes of Val Piora, you can expect breathtaking scenery, untouched nature and, of course, lots of lakes. The tour starts at the Piora station, where you can get there from Piotta with the famous red Ritom funicular.
Immediately after you start hiking, you will immerse yourself in one of the most stunning landscapes in Ticino. Your first destination is the 2,208-meter-high Pizzo Föisc. At the Föisc mountain hut, you can take a break and take in the fantastic panorama. Then you hike down over the Föisc gap to the largest mountain lake in the canton, Lake Ritom. You walk a bit along its northern shore before climbing to 2,022 meters, where Lake Tom is located.
Then you hike on to Lake Cadagno and cross the Alpe di Piora. It is one of the largest alpine pastures in Ticino and a protected landscape area. At the Cadagno hut you can take a pleasant break and enjoy local products. Then you return to the shores of Lake Ritom and follow it to Piora, where you will reach the starting point of the hike again.
