This route was planned by komoot.
The ascent through the Ysperklamm was still pleasant. Later on the Druidenweg it got quite humid and hot. We chose the route over the Kaltenbergkreuz. The descent from there was pretty steep, difficult and slippery. Quite a challenge for my broken knuckle. On the last kilometer we got a heavy downpour. But on the whole it was a nice, interesting tour. Information about the sights can be found at: https://www.ysperklamm.info/ and https://www.waldviertel.at/wandern-zertIERT-wanderweg-druidenweg-ysperklamm Unfortunately Komoot did not manage to get all the pictures in the correct order.
Enjoy, be amazed and chill out. A circular hike through the Ysperklamm and on the Druidenweg offers exactly these experiences. The mystical and scenic Wald4tel shows its great side here.
https://www.waldviertel.at/natur-ysperklamm https://www.wanderdoerfer.at/niederoesterreich/wanderweg/druidenweg-ysperklamm-nr-31/ One of the most beautiful places in the Waldviertel! Ysperklamm is a spectacular work of nature. Huge boulders and rock formations in an old mixed forest and fast-flowing water create a breathtaking backdrop. Little light penetrates here and great contrasts arise. But not only Klamm - the Druid Trail is also very spectacular. Rock formations, moss-covered rock circles between huge beech trees create a mystical atmosphere for me. It doesn't surprise me that the Druids chose this place for their meetings. Unlike Klamm, there is not much traffic here. We only saw two people on the way. It's really worth combining both routes. After the hike, you can stop off at the Forellen Hof, right at the entrance to Klamm. I paid €72 for two portions of trout with potatoes, two Hoibe and a Seitl. I knew the prices of the menu, but we decided that we could afford a little luxury now and then. Unfortunately, the fish was undercooked and looked like it had been breaded in cement, and the potatoes were also hard and undercooked. But the beer 🍻 was delicious. Klamm entrance fee €5 adults Parking free.
Today was an incredibly beautiful hike, we are really impressed👌🏼. We would not have thought to discover something like this in the Walviertel. Certainly the recent rainfall has also contributed to these extremely beautiful and mystical natural impressions. Entry to the gorge €4. The Ysper Gorge, which has been a natural monument since 1952, impresses with a natural spectacle of clear water rushing over high rocks and through narrow gorges, imposing waterfalls and spectacular rock formations. It is the largest and most beautiful gorge in Lower Austria and offers a special kind of hiking experience. Where the Ysperklamm ends, the Druidenweg begins. Numerous mysterious scarf stones and strange rock formations along the way suggest former Celtic places of worship, hence the name of the circular route. This certified circular hiking trail in the southern Waldviertel leads steeply up through the Ysperklamm. The Great Ysper climbs 300 meters over a length of two kilometers.
The route initially leads through the shady cool Ysperklamm. After about 45 minutes you have left them behind. After that, a gently sloping forest path, partly in the shade and partly in the sun, leads to the meeting point of the druids. (Perfect for a short break). Also on a forest path comes another short but steep climb. There you have reached the highest point. The descent can be made either via a trail (31) or a fort road (31a). For 31 very good shoes and very good surefootedness (for humans and dogs) is necessary! A very nice hike with great views and quiet places. NOT suitable for prams ONLY for good walkers!!

Unfortunately, the internet and cell phone reception in the parking area is very poor. That's why the tour only started in the upper area/end of the gorge. It's best to download the tour offline beforehand.
