This tour impresses with one thing in particular: crisp vertical meters! In return you will be served numerous magnificent views, best single trails and fast descents. Forests, open spaces, ridges and valleys ensure that you don't get bored. If you want to keep the tour a little shorter, you can turn towards Wolfersgrün.

The almost 50 km long, demanding tour starts in the rafting town of Wallenfels in the valley of the Wild Rodach. If you have left the hiking parking lot behind you, the first climb is waiting for you. You can enjoy some great views from a beautiful trail, then the path becomes a gravel track. Shortly afterwards you can relax in the Silberberghütte with a view of the Rodach valley from the steep passage.

The first rapid descent takes you to the Leunitztal. After following the river for a while, you can look forward to a roller coaster ride through the forest. Short uphill sections alternate with fast descents. At the Max Marien spring you can fill your bottle with fresh spring water that you can use for the next calf-biting climb.

In the Lamitztal you let your bike roll leisurely. Perhaps you will also make a detour to the Floßlände Schnappenhammer, where raft trips on the Wilder Rodach take place from May to September. If you have tackled the last mountain to the Schlossberg chapel, you have almost returned to the starting point. From here it is (almost) only downhill.

A beautiful rest area with a healing spring. The Max-Marien spring provides a calcium bicarbonate acidic spring. Bottles of the healing water can be brought along from the well house in Langenau. The calcium-rich water stimulates kidney function and is recommended for gout and diseases of the urinary tract.

The raft trips on the Wild Rodach of the Wallenfelser raftsmen start at the raft area in Schnappenhammer. These take place every Saturday from May to September and are a crowd puller. The wet, happy fun with various weir crossings lasts about an hour. Exchangeable clothing should be taken with you in any case, as you can get wet especially when crossing the weir.

The pretty chapel is a landmark of the city of Wallenfels. It was built to commemorate the fallen of the First World War and is located on the Way of the Cross. The gate is named as a MTB tour, but can also largely be called a Gavel tour. With the exception of the three trails, it goes uphill on forest paths or gravel forest paths, in some cases vigorously.

The first ascent awaits shortly after the Leutnitztal hiking car park. The gravel road quickly turns into a beautiful trail with an …

Probably one of the most physically demanding tours in the Franconian Forest. You have to work hard to gain every meter of altitude through deep, wet gravel, but the Wallenfelser Höhenweg offers spectacular views of the Franconian Forest.

At Wellesbach, the bike has to be pushed and carried for a kilometer, but that's part of mountain biking 😅
