One of my favorite tours, I've done it many times... Start in Naila and follow the well-signposted tour on the railway line cycle path up to Schwarzenbach am Wald. A short stretch of road past Straßdorf, then a turnoff into the forest. A bit of a stupid gravel road at the moment, but still a wonderful stretch of forest. After Lippertsgrün, a short detour to the field cross with a beautiful view of the Döbraberg and the route already covered. Descent through the idyllic Froschbachtal to Thierbach and via Schafhof to Bad Steben. A short cycling break in Steem, and then, refreshed, via Lichtenberg and Höllental back to the starting point at Naila station. A beautiful, varied circuit with lots of views!
One of my favorite laps... We started in Naila at the train station. On the Bahntrassenradweg we went on the HO12/ tour to the cure to Schwarzenbach/Wald, from there via Lippertsgrün through the beautiful Froschbachtal to Bobengrün. The Pentecost camp of the YMCA is currently taking place there, a traditional Christian camp. There was really something going on.... In Bad Steben we leave the Kurtour and cycle along the cycle path to Lichtenberg, where we make a small detour to the castle ruins. Great views over the Saale/Muschwitz/Selbitztal. Fast descent to Blechschmiedenhammer and through the Höllental and along the Selbitztalradweg back to the starting point at Naila station. A really nice round with a lot of views of the beautiful landscape.
I used yesterday's VGN day ticket + (plus) for today, but today I cycled to Naila and from Naila train station onto the bike path towards Schwarzenbach/Wald. The route follows the former railway line, past the quarry (the newly designed Naila Geo-trail also passes here). The tour is quite varied, sometimes through the cool, refreshing forest, sometimes past flower-filled meadows with panoramic views. In Bad Steben, I decided to take the Höllerstraße (car-free) and return to Naila via Marxgrün.

Currently (May 2025), the path from Göhren towards Bobengrün is barely manageable for normal trekking bikes due to tree felling and repairs with coarse gravel. CAUTION
