This route was planned by komoot.
The starting point for our hike today was the adventure center in Gesäuse National Park... As the saying goes: if it's raining when we start, it can't get any worse. So, put on our rain jackets and continue along the Johnsbach stream to the village of the same name... a beautiful and varied route. Nevertheless, we were all relieved when we reached the car again. 😃
again easy to reach with public transport, see app BusBahnBim with timetables!! From the bus stop, cross the street and first take the "Der Wilde John" adventure trail. This is particularly interesting and lovingly designed for families with children. The story of Wild John is told and children can try all sorts of things (not just children...! 😀) It is a shady path that is also good to walk on hot days. The noise of the Johnsbachs accompanies you the whole time. When the adventure trail ends, it's a little steeper uphill, but always very varied! Shortly before Johnsbach you can admire the climbers in a parking lot, who balance over a wire rope bridge over the river and then crawl up the almost vertical wall! In Johnsbach there are wonderful beer gardens and it is advisable to stop there. You shouldn't miss the climbers' cemetery at the church either. It once again makes it clear that respect for the violence of nature makes sense and that overestimating or bad luck are punished quickly and mercilessly. Going from grave to grave makes you quiet: it's almost exclusively young people between 20 and 30 when they died. Many say: crashed, frozen to death, falling rocks, lightning, missing...
