A large, empty parking lot greets me with a sign reading "Kalkalpen National Park." I take a quick look at the dimly lit information center, and then I'm off. I follow a crystal-clear, roaring stream, which accompanies me further into the forest. The path leads me through impressively old beech forests, glowing in fresh spring green. Truly a true natural paradise 🌳 At about 1,100 meters, the dense forest opens up into a vast, flower-strewn meadow. A little further down lies a working alpine pasture, but after some consideration, I'm immediately drawn higher. The final ascent to the Alpstein is a challenge. Towards the end, it becomes surprisingly alpine and a bit scrambling. But that's precisely what makes it exciting 🏔️ Almost at the top, I suddenly hear a pitiful whimper. A chamois in distress that needs to be rescued? No, a young father is coming towards me, carrying his toddler in a backpack. Respect, that's how you raise the mountaineers of tomorrow! Arriving at the summit cross, I enjoy the view all to myself. There isn't much space up there (two square meters is just enough), but anyone with a head for heights will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama. It was all worth it for this moment, the climb, and the little adrenaline rush 🤩 The second peak, the Trämpel, is easy to climb and perfectly complements the tour. After that, it's a slow descent (in the truest sense of the word). As much as I enjoy climbing mountains, the descent is becoming increasingly difficult for me. The rain of the last few days has turned the forest floor into a muddy mud slide, and the rocks have been uncooperative 👞 Everything goes well until shortly before the end. Then comes the "dog ladder" (see photo), which I find quite ghastly. Using a rope, I swing around the rock like Tarzan, which isn't entirely without consequences. My backpack absorbs most of the impact. However, my hand gets a little reminder that I'm no longer 20 and need a "cushioner." It all worked out well. Any kind of sympathy is not welcome (a smile is enough 😁). The time in motion is obviously incorrect. I was moving so slowly that Komoot interpreted it as a standstill. Thanks Jacek @Bezufahe🇺🇦✌️ for your great tour template https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2195550498 . The long journey to the national park was more than worth it!
A beautiful hike from alpine pasture to alpine pasture. From the Scheiblingau to the Ebenforstalm 😅 from there to the Trämpl and back again via the Schaumbergalm.
A wonderful tour with a lot of views. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are sometimes necessary.
Beautiful hike in the Kalkalpen National Park. Walking time 2 hours 24 minutes is not quite right. That would have been a mountain run. 🤣 We walked for about 4 hours.
