On the last day of our short vacation, our hike went from Gößweinstein via the rock village of Tüchersfeld through the Felsentor to Gößweinstein Castle 🏰🥰.
Circular tour with striking rock formations that are so typical of Franconian Switzerland. From the starting point we follow the “Frankenweg” and “Fränkische Schweiz Cultural Experience” signs. We leave Gößweinstein via Badangerstraße and Schützenstraße. After about 3 km we reach the rock village of Tüchersfeld. From here we hike with the yellow diamond to Hühnerloh. Straight cross the intersection at the town entrance "Wegweiser Tour 6" and follow the road for approx. 900 m to the state road. Turn right there (bus stop), after 90 m turn left at the small bridge with the wooden railing and continue on the dirt road to Sachsendorf. There we cross the road in front of the crossroads at the small bird bath and continue to the left until the blue circle markings lead us to Gottesberg after about 250 m. Here we come to the green dot, which we follow into the Heide state forest. From here we follow the sign “Zum Felsentor”. We continue to follow the green dot, cross the state road and reach Schulstrasse. At the end we turn right into Viktor-von-Scheffel-Straße and arrive back at the starting point (Burgstraße).
Beautiful panoramic tour on well signposted paths. A real highlight and highly recommended is the Museum of Franconian Switzerland in Tüchersheim. Located very exposed between two rock towers, it offers a very good insight into customs, history and everyday life in Franconian Switzerland. Another highlight is the rock gate near Gößweinstein and the pilgrimage basilica there with an attached monastery. The paths are very good, but a bit too much asphalt.
