What a tour. To my liking. Almost consistently only beautiful and narrow paths with decent ascents and descents. In addition, again and again wide views to the sea. So quite directly, an urgent recommendation to hike for everyone who ends up in the area. From the parking lot it went straight up the hill, so that my calves got something to do and that in flat Denmark. On the whole tour you go through gates again and again and at some point you don't even know anymore whether you are on a pasture or not. When after almost two kilometers three cows made themselves comfortable right on the path, I knew where I was. Small bow and on we went. Since I started quite early, I didn't meet many other people either. The first crowd was at Trehøje. At 127 meters, one of the highest points in Mols Bjerge National Park. Actually, there are three hills next to each other. You can park your car right in front of it, so you're not just among hikers here. So I was allowed to quickly take a family photo of the other people on the summit before I continued. The route then turns west. There is a nice path through a gorge here. You don't necessarily think it's in the area. Next hotspot is the viewpoint Agri Bavnehøj. At 137 meters the highest point in the national park. A large parking lot at the foot of the mountain made me fear bad things. But then I had the summit to myself for a short time. At least I was able to ask the followers for the favor of a photo. What else is left to mention? The way over the horse meadow, which calmly continued to feed in the immediate vicinity. The countless blackberry bushes along the way and in entire meadows, which were "harvested" again and again by the locals. A total of 370 meters in altitude over 20.5 kilometers and that in flat Denmark. Respect. Warmest recommendation for hiking.
What a great tour! If you are ever here in Djursland, you should definitely do one of the many circular hikes in the Mols Bjerge National Park. We weren't expecting anything like this here at all. The landscape changes every few minutes, first gentle hills, then right through mixed forest, then steep climbs (remember, we are here on the Baltic Sea at sea level, and climb 137 meters in altitude in a short time), followed by lovely valleys. And then the many natural meadows, completely uncultivated, like the majority of the oak forests here, which are completely left to themselves and are not reforested. And this has been the case since the 18th century. You can admire proud herds of strong bulls in the pastures, or horses, and with a bit of luck (like us😍) you can even see a beautiful red fox in all its beauty from 20 meters away. And last but not least, the hiking trail led up and down through a spruce forest, so that we almost felt at home in the Harz🫢. As you can explore the national park (180 sq km) from all sides, there are also a lot of ways to get there. This means that the group of hikers gets lost in the park in no time at all, and you don't get on each other's nerves😉.
