Want more? You can find more information about nature and sights to the right and left of this hiking trail in my hiking book "Finland's National Parks - Hiking in the Pearls of the North". There you will find over 500 pages of accompanying background information on 1,000 kilometers on foot through all of Finland's national parks. My motto: "Walk - See - Understand". Write to me and ask!
The strenuous tour through this national park was beautiful but not necessarily a super highlight. The beavers' structures and the small swamps were interesting, and there were also some old pine trees to see. Otherwise, the path was a little difficult to walk, especially in the second half, with lots of roots and stones. The constant ups and downs made us very tired. It takes 4 hours to walk the 11 km.
I don't want to leave here! Everything was perfect on my last tour in Finland and I think I've finally fallen in love with the Finnish forests. Adventurous paths take me to the most beautiful lakes, in which red wooden huts and old trees are reflected. Lichens, moss and ferns cover large boulders and dead wood lying on the ground. The fact that everything here looks a bit messy - from a German perspective - is a good sign. Here the forest is allowed to be forest and nobody interferes with nature. Except in the few places where you can picnic and camp. I saw a few wonderful ones again today, I would have loved to put up my tent and stay a little longer. The Isojärvi National Park was particularly wild today and rich in water, moors and challenging paths. It's a joy to be here, especially as the leaves are slowly changing and autumn is setting in. What remains is the feeling of absolute deceleration and gratitude for having seen these forests.
